After the close of business of the Aeromar airline economic analysts are already considering the impact that its suspension of flights will have on the tourist destinations where it arrived. This was an airline focused on the regional sector of the country, so there will be 4 locations that will be mainly affected.
This was detailed by the economic analyst Fernando Gómez, for the Heraldo Televisión program, Tiempo de Negocios, presented by Darío Celis. According to the expert, they will be Chetumal, Merida, campeche and jalapa the routes that will be left unattended after the closure of Aeromar operations and it is difficult for any other airline to take these touristic destinations because they do not have enough fleet.
“Aeromar had Chetumal, Mérida, Campeche, Jalapa, routes that were highly identified with the regional market. When this airline left, it would be difficult for the others to cover these routes ignored by Aeromar. I think that at the time there could be a regional one that could enter it to the quite, but up to now there is no one with such characteristics that has aircraft available for that purpose, since those that remain on the market would hardly do so because they do not have enough fleet”, highlighted Fernando Gómez.
According to the economic specialist, it is difficult for another airline to take these 4 touristic destinations what left Aeromar after its closing of operations; “I don’t think they are going to experiment with new routes in destinations where it would be necessary to see how it works for them, and if it works for them, it would take time, I don’t think they are betting on taking half-full flights against those that are profitable so far,” he explained to Tiempo of business.
In counterpart, the touristic destinations that have had a great growth after the pandemic are located mainly in the two peninsulas, in Los Cabos and in Cancun.
“There is a tourist recovery greater than 100%, 120% is around in both places. The growth in tourism in these two points also creates a balance in general terms at the national level, that is, it helped to rebound that increase, but there is destinations that continue to be ignored even more with the departure of Interjet and Aeromar, such as the magical towns that need to be detonated,” explained the economic analyst.
