The United States House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services has scheduled a hearing on cryptocurrencies to discuss its future and bring clarity to the digital asset ecosystem.
On June 6, Rep. Patrick McHenry, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, advertisement holding a committee-wide hearing entitled: “The Future of Digital Assets: Providing Clarity for the Digital Asset Ecosystem“. The hearing is scheduled for June 13 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time. According to the committee, the hearing will be broadcast live on its website.
The Financial Services Committee oversees the country’s economy through its oversight of individual reserve banks and the Federal Reserve Board, the United States Treasury, capital markets, and the production and distribution of foreign currency.
Although the committee did not provide more detailed information on what will be discussed at the hearing, members of the crypto community hope that some of the most pressing issues in the industry will be addressed.
One Twitter user commented that it would be good to address what described as “coordinated attacks” on cryptocurrency exchanges, in reference to recent US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) lawsuits against Binance and US-based exchange Coinbase.

Meanwhile, other community members have order to the committee to keep SEC Chairman Gary Gensler in line. One community member believes the SEC chief has “ignored” what was discussed in previous hearings.
The announcement follows a recent hearing by the US House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture. On June 6, a hearing was held entitled: “The Future of Digital Assets: Providing Clarity for Digital Asset Spot Markets”. In it, the committee also discussed the future of digital assets, specifically the bill from which they are authors McHenry and the chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, Rep. Glenn Thompson.
